On the Job

Andrea is currently the Social media assistant for the Gator's men's basketball team and creates feature stories about the players, coaches and supporting staff. These stories have been published on all social media platforms, while on Twitter they became the most viewed videos posted on the page.

Andrea has worked as an MMJ in multiple platforms including WUFT News Channel 5 in Gainesville covering and producing news stories to air on the daily live newscast, where she was also a sports anchor. She was an anchor and producer for the live newscast for WUFT News on 89.1 FM, an NPR affiliate station. Andrea is bilingual and worked with WUFT Noticias, anchoring and producing news updates in Spanish.

In addition, Andrea was a basketball beat reporter for ESPN Gainesville and not only covered both the men's and women's UF basketball teams, but also local High School basketball. She did sports updates aired on 98.1 FM and wrote weekly articles that were published on ESPN Gainesville's website.

Outside the Newsroom

Andrea was a gymnast for 2 years and a dancer on and off for 8 years. But she found true love in boxing and was a boxer 11 years and competed around the country at National tournaments like the Adidas Tournament and the Women's Golden Gloves. Boxing has taught her to always keep fighting no matter how many times you get knocked down. Through boxing she learned the meaning of hard work and dedication. Andrea was home schooled in High School in order to have time to train multiple times a day without falling behind on her school work. 

​Andrea loves meeting new people and hearing their story and believes everyone has a story to share that could impact and influence others for the better. As a journalist she has been given the opportunity to speak to people from different walks of life that have given her the opportunity to learn about new things she otherwise would have not been exposed to.  As someone who has been an athlete her whole life she truly identifies and admires other athletes and their work ethic and ultimately wants to work making feature stories on athletes. She also hopes to have the opportunity to cover boxing and be a boxing commentator in title fights at the MGM in Las Vegas and in Madison Square Garden in New York City.
